Leadership Training

Leadership training is something that must exist in a business to maintain a good workflow for there is no company out there which has not got on to boost things up and be more productive. Thus there are many managers out there that stop at some point in their lives and ask themselves: “Why is the other better than me?” This is a question that signals you are really shaken up as a manager and that you are in a point of confusion.

That’s why communication is the fundamental requirement for any type of relation. Go ask someone who has worked for a great boss about anything, and you will be first let in on the amazing communicational skills of that boss. When we are talking about the corporate world, that person who really understands his or her staff and has an insight that’s more powerful and profound, thus more complex and complete than others is called an executive and it’s given the opportunity to handle a team into better success.

But leadership training is not something that only has two components, listening and understanding your subordinates. It’s a more complex thing that requires you to understand also at an emotional level everything that you are doing and to control those emotions and harness better ideas, a stronger will power and more creative ideas. You can ask anyone that has been for a while in this business and he or she will tell you that a good discipline and a remarkable sense of responsibility are key factors in obtaining success!

If you are in a situation where you just can’t feel focused anymore and feel that you are stepping in the wrong lane, ask for coaching. You are a human too and even if you manage others into achieving best results, you also need a helping hand from time to time and that’s why leadership training is something you can resort to when things get bleak.

Leadership Opens Doors

Not everyone naturally has the skill of leadership coaching? This was the question that a colleague asked me when I was sharing how good managers became good managers.  It seemed evident to me why some managers were skilled and some were not.   Is every capable at being a good leader?

To me the answer was simple; it was “YES!”  Every person in a leadership role has the ability to do something great.  Don’t misunderstand me though; it is not as simple as an elementary math problem.  It takes dedication and application to get to the good leader inside you.  A coach or facilitator of leadership courses that help are not just a shot in the dark.  The facilitators are known for their background and expertise in the subject.  They first hand bring their knowledge in to the class room for proper application.

Contemplate what type of leader you want to be and choose a training course around it.  Take a look at your past experience.  Does it delve in to education and numbers? If so, then you would take courses on team work, team management and motivational tactics.  There are even schools that dedicate their curriculum to be a coach and mentor.  Some of us are natural leaders and some need additional assistance.  It is not required to take a course to be a good leader but to go forward in your professional career; it can have a profound affect on your resume.  We all want to make our resume pop and by taking a leadership coaching course, it is sure to fly!

Build Your Management Powerhouse

Leadership management seems like an oxymoron however, the two terms put together make a powerhouse of an employee.  Leadership on its own is a large factor that influences employees.  It is an essential process of coaching others on their behavior steering towards a company’s goals.  The behavior exhibited should follow the specifics of the company within its culture, procedures and policies.  The leader is responsible for getting projects done through guiding other people.  Successful communication is vital to this goal.

Management on its own is an act of gathering people together and setting out to accomplish a specific goal and objective.  Management includes planning, hiring staff, directing a team all in an effort of reaching a goal.  The concept for a manager is to effectively handle behavioral issues and opportunities for improvement.  Essentially, manager’s responsibilities are more comprehensive than leaders is.

The truth of it is, not all managers are leaders.  However, in rare cases, a highly effective manager is in turn, a long term effective leader.  To have a strong backbone to a company both leaders and managers are needed just like “checks and balances”. There isn’t a specific style that leads to the perfect leadership management style.  The reason for this is personalities.  That’s right.  Within a team of people you will have a variety of personalities and what motivates one may not motivate another.  Experience and training as a manager or leader is important to apply the right style toward each member of a team.  It seems very complex however, when applying what has been learned, leadership management becomes second nature.

Leadership Development Program for Communication

The Leader A leadership development program is essential to building a group of people with a common vision within a company or corporation.  One key item of need within a team is communication.  Without successful or constructive communication, towers would fall.  I was once part of a leadership program that lasted three days and was out of state.  It was intense and very educational.  One of the topics emphasized was communication.  They also talked about filters.  Sounds funny, right?  Well, when it was first explained to me it ended up making perfect, humorous sense.  Jane Smith approaches you and says “what is your progress on the report for Mr. Smith?  I was hoping to get it to him by 2pm”.  You think to yourself “why is Jane bothering me about this, can’t she be patient?  She knows I’m working so hard on this and I told her I would have it done by 5pm.”  Did Jane sound impatient?  Was she implying that she was not doing her work?  Of course not.  In this case, the employee’s communication filter was broken!  Listen and then repeat what is being requested of you so that the end result and expectation is crystal clear.  When you go back to your team today, take a listen…you may see a need for a leadership development program in your office.

Management Leadership Training

What percentage of your workforce gives 100 % effort?  Just to be clear, I’m not asking about the folks who reliably produce satisfactory work.  I’m talking employees who consistently deliver blood, sweat and tears level effort.

We conducted a survey of over 500,000 leaders and employees and this was one of the questions we asked.  Turns out 77 % of leaders believe employees fall short when it comes to giving their all.  And they’re right because 72% of the employees admit blood, sweat and tears level effort doesn’t describe their current work ethic.

That’s three quarters of the work force that admit they’re NOT pushing the envelope, NOT aspiring to greatness, and NOT proving wrong those who say “it can’t be done.”  And more than three quarters of leaders that admit they know the situation exists.  Those are some pretty uncomfortable numbers.

To borrow a memorable quote from Rosalynn Carter, “A leader takes people where they want to go.  A [100%] Leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go but ought to be.”  Most folks aren’t opposed to reaching excellence.  I’d wager that a good number of your employees already have the talent to get there— that’s why you hired them. But they need you to show them how to make the climb, and once there, how to maintain the success. Hence the need for management leadership training.

With some dedication and a true desire to change, anyone can become a 100% Leader.  Someone who takes average people and through challenge and connection unleashes their true potential to achieve extraordinary results.  A leader who doesn’t just accept people as they are, but who sees what an individual can become and cares enough to push that person beyond his or her self-imposed limitations.  If you are not yet that leader, get or request some management leadership training, and become the 100% leader.
